Barbara Miller, 88, of Aurora, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Born in Lincoln, NE, in February 1938, she was the daughter of Edward L Vauck and Hedwig M (Nuss) Vauck.

Barbara grew up in Omaha, NE, graduated from Denver Central High School in 1956, and briefly attended the University of Colorado in Boulder. In 1957 she moved to Los Angeles where she met and married Jimmy B. Miller in October of 1959. During their 39-year marriage, they lived in California, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, and Illinois until Jim's unexpected passing in July of 1998. After Jim's death, Barbara remained Lisle, IL and later Aurora to be close to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Barbara was a devoted wife and mother of two sons. She volunteered frequently at her children's schools and with various charities, worked as a substitute secretary for Topeka Public Schools, and later as a part-time secretary for the Lisle Senior High School Athletic Director. She was an active member and officer of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and sang in church choirs in every community she called home, including long associations with First Presbyterian of Topeka, KS, Southminster Presbyterian of Glen Ellyn, IL, and Knox Presbyterian of Naperville.

Most of all, Barbara cherished being "Grandma" and "GG" to her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, whom she helped look after, supported, and lovingly spoiled. She passed on her love of music and theater, church life, cats, shopping and costume jewelry, Southwestern art, travel, good friends, helping others, and simply enjoying life.

Barbara is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, William and Julie Miller of Aurora, and John and Kimbery Miller of Aurora; William and Julie's daughters Samantha (Eric) Dunker of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Victoria Miller of Aurora; John and Kim's children Alexander and Delaney; Victoria's son Adrian Moreno; and Samantha and Eric's children Elizabeth, Benjamin, Joshua, and Aaron. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sisters, Abbi Kharas of Denver, CO, and Beth Sparks of Omaha, NE.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 3000 Liberty St, Aurora, IL 60502, (630) 862-3500, on Saturday, June 13 at 11:00 am with a visitation starting at 10:00 am.
